 Subject Association Day – Day 2 was celebrated on 17th October in connection with Black Poetry Day, honoring the powerful voices of Black poets and their lasting impact on literature.

The programme focused on understanding poetic expression, figures of speech, and the cultural significance of poetry through interactive learning.

• The event was anchored by Akshara, who guided the programme smoothly and maintained an engaging atmosphere throughout the session.

• The day began with a Thought for the Day by Shereena, highlighting poetry as a medium of voice, resistance, and self-expression.

• Shamna introduced the New Word of the Day, explaining its meaning, usage, and relevance to poetry.

• The Pledge, led by Shahina, emphasized inclusivity, respect for diverse literary voices, and appreciation of poetic traditions.

• Mary presented the News Update, sharing recent literary developments and achievements related to poetry and poets.

• Shermi introduced the theme Black Poetry Day, explaining its significance and highlighting poets such as Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, and Amanda Gorman.

• A special session on Figures of Speech enhanced students’ understanding of poetic techniques and language beauty.

• Simile was explained by Shereena with examples from Maya Angelou’s poetry.
Rhyme was presented by Shahina, focusing on rhyme schemes and rhythm using selected poetic excerpts.
 Personification was explained by Fathima, illustrating how human qualities add emotion to poetry.
Metaphor was presented by Shamna, highlighting its role in creating strong imagery and deeper meanings.
Onomatopoeia was explained by Mary, showing how sound words bring poetry to life.
Alliteration was presented by Sophia, demonstrating how repeated sounds enhance rhythm and flow.







An interactive Rhyming Word Game was conducted, encouraging student participation and making learning enjoyable.




The event concluded with students gaining a deeper appreciation for poetry, creativity, and diverse literary voices.

• Day 2 of the Subject Association celebrations strengthened students’ interest in literature and set the tone for future academic activities.
