The seventh day of the Subject Association celebrations was observed on December 16th to commemorate the birthday of Jane Austen, one of the most influential novelists in English literature. The programme focused on celebrating her literary legacy, timeless themes, and continued relevance in modern literature and society.



The event was anchored by Saafi, who introduced Jane Austen’s contribution to literature, highlighting her sharp social commentary and strong female characters. The session began with a prayer, followed by the Thought for the Day shared by Mary, reflecting on the power of literature. Shamna presented the New Word of the Day, while Fathima delivered a literary news update on modern adaptations of Austen’s works. Alen then spoke on the importance of Jane Austen’s novels, emphasizing her narrative style, critique of social norms, and lasting influence.



A special segment was dedicated to the interpretation of Jane Austen’s famous quotes, where students shared and explained selected lines, connecting their meanings to both historical and contemporary contexts. This session highlighted Austen’s wit, insight into human nature, and moral values.





The programme concluded with a recitation competition, coordinated by Shereena, where students recited passages from Austen’s novels, showcasing their expression and understanding of her language. The celebration proved to be engaging and insightful, deepening students’ appreciation of Jane Austen’s enduring literary brilliance.
