MICRO TEACHING - SKILL OF RECITATION.
Micro-teaching is an effective teacher training technique that allows student-teachers to practice and polish their teaching skills in a supportive and controlled setting. It focuses on developing key teaching competencies such as introducing lessons, questioning, reinforcement, and classroom management. Through micro-teaching, we get the opportunity to plan, present, and assess short lessons while receiving constructive feedback from peers and mentors. This experience helps in building confidence, improving communication, and enhancing overall teaching ability before stepping into a real classroom environment.
As part of my micro-teaching practice, I presented the skill of recitation on 21 March 2025, based on the poem “Sea Fever.” The session aimed to develop students’ appreciation for poetry and enhance their pronunciation, rhythm, and expression. Through this activity, I focused on using proper voice modulation and facial expressions to bring out the emotions of the poem. The experience helped me understand how effective recitation can make poetry more engaging and enjoyable for learners while strengthening their listening and speaking skills.
