Weekly reflection - 4. Internship phase 1

 Week 4 of My Internship (4 – 8 August 2025)

The fourth week of my internship continued with the rhythm of morning prayers followed by my first-hour classes. On Monday (4 August), I resumed the chapter I had been teaching earlier and was delighted to notice some improvement in students’ responses. A few of them even asked doubts, which gave me happiness as it showed their growing curiosity and confidence. The school also conducted fun games and competitions during the week, and I enjoyed watching the students participate actively. These moments reminded me that school is not just about academics but also about building joy, teamwork, and healthy competition.

On Tuesday (5 August), I once again had my class in the first period, where I managed to complete a good portion of the chapter. This gave me a sense of satisfaction, as progress in lessons allows both teacher and students to stay motivated.

Wednesday (6 August) was significant as the school observed Hiroshima Day. The assembly included announcements and a special speech, followed by a quiz in the afternoon. The commemoration made me realize how important it is to integrate historical events into school life, as it instills values of peace and empathy in young minds while connecting them with the realities of the world.

On Thursday (7 August), I had my second observation, this time by my English teacher. I made use of teaching-learning materials (TLM) to make my lesson more engaging. I felt more confident compared to my earlier observations, and this experience showed me how preparation and creative use of resources can make a noticeable difference in classroom teaching.

Finally, on Friday (8 August), I could not teach as I had to conduct a test paper for the students. However, I took a few substitution periods and used them meaningfully to support the students. This made me reflect on how a teacher’s role often extends beyond their own subject—to being present, guiding, and assisting whenever needed.

Week 4 was thus a rich blend of teaching, observations, activities, and commemorations. It deepened my understanding that a teacher must balance academic progress with values-based education, while also being flexible enough to adapt to the dynamic needs of school life.
