Weekly Reflection 8 - school internship phase 1

Weekly Reflection – Week 8 of My School Internship

Week 8 of my internship was filled with poetry appreciation, diagnostic assessment, creative competitions, and meaningful classroom interactions. Each day provided new insights into teaching practices and strengthened my ability to manage diverse classroom situations effectively.

Day 36 – 22 September 2025

I reached the school by 9:00 a.m. and began my first-period class in 9A by introducing a new poem, “Sea Fever.” The main objective was to help students understand the poet’s deep longing for the sea and appreciate the imagery and rhythmic flow of the poem. To make the session engaging, I used charts, flashcards, and audio clips of sea waves, which helped students visualize the poem more vividly.

During the fourth period, I handled a substitution class in the same division, where I distributed and discussed the achievement test papers, clarifying errors and guiding students on improvement. I spent the remaining time updating my records and left the school by 4:15 p.m.

Day 37 – 23 September 2025

I reached the school by 9:00 a.m. and continued with the poem “Sea Fever” in 9A. The focus of the day was to help students appreciate the poet’s love for the sea and identify the imagery and literary devices used. Using charts, flashcards, and glossary aids, I facilitated group activities through which students interpreted the poem effectively.

During the substitution period in the same class, I introduced the grammar topic Prefix and Suffix using an innovative “Wheel of Affixes” model. The spinning activity made the concept interactive, and students enthusiastically formed new words using different prefixes and suffixes. I completed my record work during the free period and left the school at 4:15 p.m.

Day 38 – 24 September 2025

I reached the school at 9:00 a.m. and attended the morning assembly. In the first period, I conducted a diagnostic test in 9A to assess students’ prior knowledge and identify areas that needed improvement. The students were given adequate time and attempted the questions with sincerity.

I later handled a substitution period in class 8A, where I maintained discipline and helped students clarify their academic doubts. In the afternoon, a software-related quiz was conducted in the school, and the students participated with great enthusiasm.

An adolescent education session was also held during the sixth period, which provided meaningful insights to the learners. I spent my free time updating my records and reflecting on the day’s experiences before leaving the school at 4:15 p.m.

Day 39 – 25 September 2025

I reached the school by 9:00 a.m. and began the day by distributing and discussing the diagnostic test papers in class 9A. I clarified each question, addressed common mistakes, and provided suggestions for improvement. During the substitution period in the same class, I also gave additional notes to strengthen students’ understanding of the previously taught portions.

The school organized drawing and painting competitions as part of the upcoming youth festival, which created a vibrant and artistic atmosphere throughout the campus.

In the last period, I conducted along with my fellow trainee teacher, a yoga session in class 8B, helping students relax, stretch, and develop better focus.

I left the school by 4:15 p.m.

Day 40 – 26 September 2025

I reached the school by 9:00 a.m. and began my day by discussing the diagnostic test marks and giving personalized feedback to students in 9A. In the following substitution period, I provided a complete revision summary of the chapter I had previously taught, ensuring that students were well-prepared.

In the afternoon, the school conducted a writing competition for the students, encouraging their creativity and written expression. Following this, my fellow teacher trainee and I conducted a conscientization program on the topic “The Importance of Clean Drinking Water.” We used the ICT tools and presented notes, images, and visual material to help students understand the significance of clean water in daily life, the various ways water becomes polluted, and the need to conserve and protect water sources. The students were attentive and actively participated in the discussion, making the session meaningful.

After the program, we handled the Physical Education and Health class in 8B. The topic focused on overall health, covering the four major dimensions—physical, emotional, social, and mental well-being. Through interactive activities and discussions, we helped students understand how each aspect contributes to leading a balanced and healthy life.

I completed my duties and left the school by 4:15 p.m.
