Bi-Weekly Reflection (November 10–21)
Bi-Weekly Reflection (November 10–21)
The first ten days of my second-phase internship marked an important stage in my professional growth as a trainee teacher. From November 10 onwards, I began handling regular classroom teaching and covered several portions as per the timetable. These sessions helped me improve my confidence, lesson planning skills, and classroom interaction. Continuous teaching during this period helped me understand students’ learning levels and the importance of structured and engaging instruction.
During this bi-weekly period, I actively observed and participated in school assemblies. On November 13, a morning assembly was conducted, and I closely observed how values and social messages were communicated through prayers, speeches, and activities. This experience helped me understand the role of assemblies in promoting discipline, unity, and awareness among students.
A major highlight of this period was the Children’s Day celebration on November 14. A special assembly was organized, followed by activities such as a quiz for students. The event created a joyful learning atmosphere and encouraged student participation. This experience highlighted the importance of celebrating significant days in schools to nurture creativity, confidence, and emotional well-being among learners.
On November 19, I had an opportunity to implement my innovative teaching model based on the chapter The Unstoppable Soul Surfer. I used the model to explain the key stages of the chapter in a visually organized manner, which helped students understand the sequence and core message of the lesson more clearly. This experience boosted my confidence in using creative and student-centered teaching strategies and reinforced the value of innovative models in enhancing comprehension.
Another significant aspect of this period was the observation of my teaching by my option teacher and general teacher. On November 17, my option teacher observed my class and offered constructive feedback on my content presentation, classroom interaction, and use of teaching aids. In the following days, observations by my general teacher further helped me reflect on my teaching practices and improve my instructional approach.
Overall, this bi-weekly period was highly productive and enriching. The combination of classroom teaching, assemblies, special celebrations, innovative instructional practices, and observation sessions contributed greatly to my professional development and prepared me to take on greater responsibilities as a teacher.
