Bi-Weekly Reflection (24 November 2025 – 28 November 2025 & 12 January 2026 – 16 January 2026)
Bi-weekly Reflection (24th November 2025 – 28th November 2025 & 12th January 2026 – 16th January 2026)
During the biweekly period from 24th November to 28th November 2025, my teaching practice progressed alongside meaningful co-curricular exposure. One significant highlight of this week was a school assembly conducted by Class 8B on Dowry Prohibition Day (26th November). The assembly effectively addressed the social evil of dowry through speeches and messages that emphasized gender equality and social responsibility. Observing this assembly gave me an opportunity to understand how morning assemblies can be used as powerful platforms for value education and social awareness. I noted active student participation and confident expression, which reinforced the importance of integrating moral and social issues within the school curriculum.
Along with these activities, I continued my teaching practice and introduced the chapter “Neerja Bhanot: A Shield of Courage” during this November period. The lesson focused on courage, selflessness, and human values. I tried to connect the content with real-life contexts and students responded positively to the discussion-based approach. As the school closed for vacation after 28th November, this phase of teaching came to a temporary pause.
The teaching practice resumed from 12th January 2026, marking the second phase of this biweekly period. On this day, I had an observation by my option teacher. I was able to handle the class with confidence, maintain classroom interaction, and present the lesson in a structured manner. The observation helped me reflect on my strengths in classroom management and content clarity, while also giving me insights into areas that required refinement, such as pacing and questioning techniques.
During the January period, I started a new unit titled “The Media Matters”, which was different from the November lessons. The unit enabled students to think critically about the role of media in society. Through explanations and discussions, students showed engagement and curiosity regarding media influence. By 16th January, I was able to almost complete the entire portion assigned to me, which gave me a sense of academic satisfaction and professional growth.
Overall, this biweekly period was fruitful and enriching. The combination of assemblies, classroom teaching, observation feedback, and completion of assigned portions helped me grow as a reflective teacher. I gained a deeper understanding of the teacher’s role not only as an instructor but also as a facilitator of values, awareness, and critical thinking.
